Project Management & Design
As publisher and editor in previous roles, I led the production of many special projects and magazines. This included determining the audience, format and vision of each publication, leading advertising sales, and assigning and editing content and photography for each. Because of my page design background, I personally designed each of the projects below, and contributed copy and photography for many assignments.
Horizons
Horizons is Leader Publications' annual progress edition. A community yearbook for southwest Michigan, this annual magazine was awarded first place in Michigan Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest Special Section category five consecutive years. Each year, I selected a theme and guided advertising, editorial, composing and distribution efforts.
I also planned and led training conferences for affiliates at Boone Newspapers, each of which produced a similar progress edition each year. Topics included dynamic design, narrative feature writing, interviewing, advertising prospecting, ad design, page layout design, and product marketing.
Media Kits
I created these media kits as tools for marketing representatives to share with prospective advertisers. The media kits are representative of the many products and services represented by Leader Publications — in print, digital and magazine formats. Using strategic design, language and graphics, these guides also served as great training tools for incoming employees.
